Mimosusogawa Park

Replicas of Choshu Cannons, used at battles around the end of the Edo period, are worth seeing

See, Play, Experience Dannoura Area

This park provides a representative view of the Kanmon Strait: its fast currents. In the park, the remains of a gun battery used to fire at foreign fleets in battles during the final days of the Edo period have been preserved. Additionally, full-scale replicas of cannons called Choshu Cannons are exhibited, aimed at the Kanmon Strait, one of which is designed to emit a fake sound and smoke. In the park are the statues of Minamoto no Yoshitsune and Taira no Tomomori, because this area is the site of the Battle of Dannoura. The handprints of actors who participated in the unveiling ceremony for these statue, including Takizawa Hideaki, are also must-see features.
