Housed in the red-brick building of the former Kyushu Railway Head Office, this museum, opened in 2003, displays many exhibits that anyone can enjoy, not only railway enthusiasts. The exhibits include real railroad cars in olden times, uniforms of generations of station staff members, and railway tools.
With the driving simulator in the museum, you can have a simulated experience of driving a train in the realistically represented landscapes of the route from JR Mojiko Station to Nishi-Kokura Station. You can enjoy the feeling of a train driver in another way in the outdoor Mini Train Park with realistic equipment, including a double track and signals, where you can drive a miniature train.
The Railroad Car Exhibition Area, recalling a station platform, displays nine railroad cars that were used in Kyushu in different times. You can closely observe these beautifully designed cars.
 At the Train Front Exhibition section, the fronts of three trains that used to run in Kyushu are exhibited, and you can operate the driving device in a driver's cab.
 The museum also has a souvenir shop, selling a wide variety of railway goods.
