This Chofu Domain samurai residence row house was once located at the main gate of the residence of a branch of the Nishi family, the chief vassal of the Choshu Domain. It was relocated from the previous location to the current location about 500 meters north for preservation purposes. With the entrance in its middle, the residence seems like a row house at a glance, but its massive size and the style of the lattice windows called Chugenbeya Koshimado (lattice windows of servants' room) clearly show us what a residence of a high-ranking samurai looked like.
