Shimonoseki Station Area
This is a historic park constructed to celebrate Emperor Taisho's enthronement in 1922. It is a famous flower viewing spot, very crowded in the season of cherry blossoms. This park on a hill provides a panoramic view of the Kanmon Strait and mountains in Kyushu. At night, illuminations completely change the atmosphere of this park to a romantic one. In the park, a bust statue of Takasugi Shinsaku was erected in 1956 on the 90th anniversary of his death, so many history enthusiasts also visit the park.
